My N code Challenger convertible was one of a group of about 20 convertibles built in late fall of 69, Q VONs, presumably for executives.  Most of them that have been documented are 318s, a handful are L code 383s, and 2 were N codes, mine and this one.
The owner, who if I recall was named Bob, lived in the Indianapolis area and restored the car and owned it many years.  We parked our cars together at the Mopar Nats year of the Challenger feature in 08.  I ran into him a few times at Monster Mopar in Indy.
He was a stickler for originality and was seeking correct 14" steel wheels for his car.  Now it has rallies and a rear wing spoiler, which he certainly wouldn't have put on the car.
It'll be interesting to see how this one bids today.

Were engine call-outs placed on the fender in 1970?

383 Four Barrel Challengers usually did have those emblems.  The G codes and L codes typically had a "V8" emblem in that location.

So being an N code did he get the engine paint wrong or was that a thing they did for non R\T cars?

330 HP non R/T 383s in Challengers and Gran Coupe Barracudas are painted corporate blue.
335 HP 383s in R/Ts and cudas are painted orange.
Though if a JH or BH N code had a manual trans, supposedly they were painted orange too.
Here is my engine.

Of course, in Mecum fashion there is no picture of the fender tag or close up of the broadcast sheet.

I have a copy of the broadcast sheet and a rubbing of the fender tag for that car somewhere that the previous owner of my car gave me when I bought it.

@JH27N0B What is your estimated value for this convertible?

JH27N0B

I have mine insured for $75,000 and I tend to think that's a fairly reasonable estimate.  The FC7 one appears to have been added to the auction offerings late in the game, and ran late on the last day of the event, so those factors don't help a car get serious bidding on it.  Bid goes on prices are questionable so that might not even have been a real money offer. $65K might have been near the reserve and shill bid to that figure in hopes a real bidder then came in with a $67K or 70K bid, and hit the reserve.
A stripper 70 G code Challenger convertible sold for $48K earlier in the Harrisburg auction.

What do you think the "convertible" premium is for E-bodies? All things equal, one car is a convertible the other is a coupe. How much more $ would the convertible be?
