That's news to me because I was at the DMV and they gave me the biggest run around and in the end I gave up.

Btw, I hate going to the DMV.

Actually it's easier in Ca without a title. Most of the old cars I've registered in CA didn't have a title and it was just a couple extra forms and a VIN verification. Never had an issue with any of them.

Yeah the dmv does suck. No doubt about it but they have forms you can download and fill out ahead of time and this is a common issue. The hot trick is to use AAA. If you go in there once a year, it pays for itself. Registration stuff is such a piece of cake. And they do VIN verification stuff too which really simplifies it. Whatever you do, never ever let a CHP guy do your verification. Those guys are so damned anal they will take your car apart looking for hidden numbers. And if a number is hard to read, they give you a hard time claiming it's theoretically possible the car was altered.

Better than in PA...   I was living in PA when i bought a 66 Charger needing restored from an old lady in Ohio.   She had inherited the car, when her son the owner passed away.   She had a lawyer go to "orphans court" to get paperwork showing she was the current owner.   She signed the Ohio title over to me.    I worked on the car for 5 years getting it ready to drive, and then went to PA DMV to register.   They refused because the Death Certificate was a carbon copy and not a "original".   I had to contact (luckily i was able to) the lawyer who did the paperwork.   The old lady was in the hospital in bad shape, but, because he had the power of attorney he was able to get an "original" death certificate for me..   Once i got that, then PA registered the car for me. Im in NC.

I now live in NC.    I bought my 74 challenger from a guy also in NC close to the Virginia border.   He had bought the car from a friend in Virginia and had the Virginia title signed to him.   I got the Virginia title and a Bill of sale as he never bothered to have it registered in his name.

So, when i went to title my car in NCs because the Virginia title was still in the sellers name,  I had to go the Bonded route (cost $100 extra) and have a NC state police examine the car.   They do that for free and I had no problem with the examiner.  He enjoyed examining it.   At the time i had removed the dash board to clean and paint it and put onto it a "Cap".   The police examiner was ok with that but warned me "do not remove the vin plate from the dash".    My other course of action would have been to request the seller to take the Virgina title back and have him register the car first..  But that would have been an issue of faith, as i would have to wait until the Title in his name came in...

I just watched a painted driving 71 bs sell on febo for 24K in new york.  Sweet deal. Way better than this one.

I've been waiting for a fender tag readout from the one listed here.

I think you mean this one.  After my 10 year search I finally beat everybody and offered more than asking price to secure a shot at her lol.  Real nice 75 year old who owned this beauty for nearly 30 years, but not a computer person and realized after the fact she was under priced, but was happy with my offer.  She came with original fender gills wrapped in bubble wrap.  They replaced with non gill fenders a while back and didn't mind the non cuda fenders. I now am in the process of either getting these fenders stamped or the patch panels.  I read the patch panels may cause cracking later on,  can anybody  verify this? She also has the original fender tag and build sheet.

The owner said he had over 200 replies just in the few hours before I ran him a deposit. I made the 250 mile trip in less than 4 hours lol.  The seller had offers of more than 10k higher than the posted price, but stuck to our deal! These cars are Gold as we know.  This is a real bs cuda 383/727 now with a great built 440 attached to the 727. That's fine with me.  The 440 is very powerful and even has nitrous, though never used.  As some of you may know my quest is movie themed cars to fit in with my Drive Ins.  Not sure if I should do a color change to " Phantasm" her, or try to work a  trade deal on a done black car . Paint and body work as we also know can get pricey.  Either way there is a 71 cuda in the garage, that's a start!

What was the posted price.  What you paid is a private thing.  Just wondering like the rest of us.  Nice car.  Doesn't AMD make 71 fenders?
If so I would go that route.  I wouldn't sell and look elsewhere you got a good car that has a good drivetrain.  Keep it.

Nice job! You got lucky....if I weren't on the other side of the country for work that day I probably would've beaten you too it. Good luck with it. I with I had a black one to offer you for it.

As far as stamping your fenders, Jeff Suranavich in CT has the set up to do it.
Last time I had him do a set years ago it was around $250.00.  I am not sure but with AMD fenders now he may not even do it anymore.
Don't weld in the patches.  Waste of time and effort with the options we have now.

Last time I called Jeff which had to be 3 or 4 years ago he said his dad moved to Florida and he wasn't doing them anymore. I'd love to get a pair done for my convertible right now as well.

Tony's parts does them for $275.00 a pair. I think I will go that route. I think he's in Delaware 4-5 hours from me. He said the process is a week to ten days. I guess I better get them fenders off and getter done!!

good score.  I wish the car wasn't on the east coast.  I was early enough I might have had a play on that.

Can we please see pics of the fender tag?  I have been very curious if the car is an original louvered car.

boys I live maybe 20 minutes from the car...

Georgia will NOT issue a title on a car this old unless you got one when you bought it......................we are backwards here but that's how we roll....

you could get a bonded title elsewhere if you need one.....

never been a problem for me selling a car on bill of sale out of state or out of the country for that matter.
I am in Alabama, as long as the car has a current registration,  or the last one and a BOS,you are good to go
Get in, I'll drive
