What does this cast date code 175 convert to on a 489 center section.

Can you post a photo?

Also, the gears will be dated too.  For example, Jan 5th 1970 in the photo.

Here Cody, 175 cast date

That 8 3/4 rear end kinda looks like the 175th day of ? ?   ....   but the screw is moved over and blocking the year date code.   :alan2cents:   :dunno:

VCODE

Yes Cody that's what I needed to see. The cast is a mis-stamp.
Thanks Bob

it looks like there is a little tail sticking out from under the last screw - 9 or 2 or 3 ('69, '72, '73) I'd bet it was "1759"

"2" would show more & "1753" is a Sunday

Dan, You are good. Where you a detective in your 1st life  :unbelievable:
Thanks

Either that or he knows how to zoom in on a digital picture without it becoming pixilated ... wish I did!
Cheers!
Tom

Tis' better to have owned classic Mopars and lost than to have never owned at all (apologies to Alfred Lord Tennyson)

Ok, since Dan answered that one, here is one more. A 742 with cast date 10
what date would that be.

:sorry:  I don't know that one.

10th day  :dunno: 10th month

you could pull the center section & see what the date is on the gears (if original)  :looney:

It does look like there may be something after the 10?

To add to this confusion, here is the 489 in my AAR.  This was the pumpkin in my car when it was purchased in 1974.
I blew up the rear end, and the gears were dated appropriately, so they were probably original.

So, what is the 64?  A mistake?
