I can see that the wiper motor is not correct for a 1970 Challenger.  A 1970 3 speed wiper motor should have the last 3 digits of 077 and not have that black cover.  BUT I think the later E-Body wiper motors work.  If you by chance have a B-Body motor, that might be the issues?   :notsure:  What is the part number on the motor.

Also, can you see where it's clocked?

This can be very helpful:

First issue is the switch plate is 180 off clocking. That is a 3sp motor. If you feel comfortable reclocking the motor I can send you a diagram with the procedure. Although its not the correct part number for your application it can be made to work. Make sure you have a 3sp or variably switch. If that is correct I would check to see if you have the correct linkage,2sp and 3sp are different on an e-body also 70-71 is different than 72-up. Any questions you can call me 951 675 9551

Thanks guys, give me some time to digest all this information and to pull the motor off and verify the part numbers on the linkage and crank.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that the linkage and crank are correct for the car.

I'll be back to let everyone know what I find.

Thanks again, I wish I knew about you guys years ago, before the prices on many of this first series mopars started to climb expotentially

Hi Guy's , just came back from the shop. I think Bruce and Cory said it all. Although the motor is not correct in appearance , with the right switch plate clocking , crank arm , linkage and switch it will work. Part number would help ...

First let me say with all due respect I am humbled yet over joyed with this response....A warm and sincere -Thank you!

Back to my dilemma, here are the part numbers for the motor pivot arm, drive linkage and dashboard wiper switch:

Pivot arm: 2822  289      58622

Drive Linkage:  2822 293       58622

The wiper switch:  2770380

With this I'm hoping there's a path for me out of this without breaking the bank.

Thanks,
Bob

The three parts you have listed are all correct, looks like you need to start with clocking the park plate as shown above....

FWIW there lots of very helpful guys here & everyone of them would do what they can to help.. But Bruce posted his number & FWIW I've got one of his motors on my car, it looks great & more importantly it works great.. So if I were you I might take him up on his offer of assistance
