I see Josh`s parts has both telescoping and fixed mast kits, Roseville has what looks to be telescoping kit but out of stock. I thought they were all fixed from the factory so is Josh`s fixed kit "correct" looking or is there one availalble anywhere else?

I'd go for the fixed mast, I had the telescoping  version and didn't like it. Rattled....

I'd be interested in getting a sure answer on what mast is correct for T/A & AARs.  I bought my T/A in late 1978 and it had a fixed mast on it.  When doing research for the restoration Barry Washington told me that they got telescoping masts, so I bought an NOS one and that is what is on the car now.
But I'm still curious given that my car had a fixed mast on it when it only 8 years after it was sold new.
The mast screws on to the cable assembly, so the antennae cable assembly is the critical item for Trans Am cars. The mast can easily be changed later if it turns out to be incorrect.

I picked one up but can't remember where I got it.  I'll check when I get home.

I looked and it doesn't have any label on it to say where I got it.  Sorry.
Contrary to the opinions of some, I am not dumber than I look.

To my knowledge, the solid mast did not start until the '73 model year.  Everything prior to that would use the telescoping mast.  Also, for those who are interested in the details, the cable on the original assemblies entered 90 degrees to the base.  Most of the reproductions that are available enter straight into the bottom of the assembly.  Since they are mounted on the quarter panel, one can quickly determine if original or not.

I believe you are correct. 70's for sure had a telescoping mast. My 73 came with a fixed.

I have a 1972 challenger brochure and they are advertising the new one piece whip antenna, my1970 challenger has a one piece antenna that the bottom screw part broke off down inside the fender but it always look like it didn't fit the base right so I'm curious if a one piece was available or just the 3 piece one
