I know you've looked & you don't believe it's the problem... I still say pick up a distributor cap.... Your symptoms are a dead on match... A cap is easy & relatively cheap so bring one & prove me wrong.....

After coil and module check, that'll be next to try.

First up, try another coil.

Don said go ahead and use my existing 6 volt coil I still had. @Cuda66
He said it will still work but don't run it long since my system is set up as 12 Volt.

Problem still there.

Next:
So I said "what the heck" 20 bucks for  an ECM went and bought an ECM module from O Reilly's.
Tried that, and the problem is still there.
So that means my 12 volt FBO ignition module is still good.
@Chryco Psycho

So I start checking my plugs.
A bunch of them have oil on them.
So possibly either my valve seals are bad or the spark plug tubes are leaking thru?
Some of the tubes had oil on the bottom of them.

All plugs replaced and gapped to .35.

Next up:
Replace distributor cap and rotor.
I made sure to get the type that has brass contacts.

Check reluctor  gap.
Looks good. About a phone book cover page thickness.

Distributor is locked down tight. Not moving.  :whiteflag:

I won't  be bringing it to De Anza now on Sunday 6/11.  ::)

Did you check to see if the rotor is going around ( with the cap off?)  Or what about finding TDC with the balancer on zero is the rotor on number one electrode on the cap?

Have you double checked your ground?  Bad grounds can do funny stuff.

Might be worth taking them all off and cleaning them.  Battery, block, frame, ect...    :notsure:

#35
dist pick up coil fail as they warm up
Glad it was not the ECU

RUNCHARGER

I was thinking it could be the pick up coil as well.

Fires, coughs, struggles to run then dies.

Pretty much describes how I feel every Monday.   :Thud:

Just a wild thought, have you tried to see if you are getting fuel?  Maybe have someone spray some starting fluid in it and see if that keeps it running?   :notsure:

Did anyone mention the ballast resistor?

Running FBO system bypasses the Ballast.

Not fuel Related?

Fireball shot up thru carb yesterday.
I can see fuel when I kick the linkage

Next time:

Pull the Electronic distributor and  put back my points original distributor.

I'm done throwing money at a problem without an improvement.
But it was done to try and make the show.

This'll raise the pick up's ugly head that it's bad before just going out and buying one first.
