Being new , i didnt know whether this was the correct place to post this, so dont blow me up if it isnt.

I posted a post in parts wanted and was contacted by message yesterday by a "Ricky233310" 972 534 6847, saying he had the part i needed.  We text a few times about it, and something just didnt feel right.  He wanted me to send paypal which was fine, but paypal wouldnt recognize the address. I got suspicious and looked on here and saw that they registered on here the same day.  I text you almost had me and havent heard anything since.

Just a heads up.

A 972 prefix normally indicates a Dallas Texas area which is where I live.  Let me know his full name via PM.  Maybe I can help if you are really Needing what he claims to have.

He's been on-line for a good amount today. Zero posts and his Profile has GB (Great Britain?) listed as location. Oh, and under Current E-bodies owned his is a 2005 Caravan. I'd be pretty skeptical too.

At least twice I've had a new that day member PM me that "Dave" or somebody had whatever it was I wanted and to email them about it.  I've ignored them each time.  Smelled way too fishy.  I think I may have reported the first one as a possible scam, but deleted the second one when he sent the same message twice in a week.

We try to watch for suspicious characters but there are times they may get through.  Certainly report them so the admin can at least look into that member  . . I too would be cautious with brand new members indicating they have the part you need and please send money.  I am also more relaxed with members that have a lot of posts here .. I will send out the part typically before I get the cash because I feel their good for it.

The only way I could see a new guy having a part to sell you would be if this site came up in a Google search....

Lets say I have a thingmagig for sale.....so I Google "thingmagig" and a link comes up for E-Bodies.org because you have a want-ad for a "thingmagig"...

Sometimes, the only contact you leave is "PM me here" so I have to join, become a member, to PM you...a better way would be an email address. :dunno:

I think caution is always good when buying something on line, but there's not always room to be skeptical as well....gees, where has all the trust in the World gone ?

I've had several transactions on here, some where I had to throw caution to the wind and take the risk. So far, amazing dealings in both directions. I typically try and deal only with what I call the "heavy hitters" in here, yet took a risk on a newer member selling two 80012 70 calipers and he turned out to be a really good guy. Also took a risk willingly on another guy that sent a private message after seeing me looking for some rare side moldings. Ended up better than I could have expected. Even had a member twice send me things saying "pay me when it arrives". Yet your situation was indeed peculiar. Good call.

The IP address for Ricky was assigned to a scamming company . . Pretty much it is a company that their business is to steal from people.   Sad days . .

Wonder what it pays. . .

There was 2 new members that posted on an old thread that seemed suspicious so I " reported to moderator" as suspicious, I see they are gone now so I guess I was right?
