Is your grill originally argent or body color?

Original grill was body color but the previous owner had a minor accident and replaced it with an argent grill.  The Shaker however was argent from the factory.  I'm gonna' go back to the body color grill when I do the restoration...on the fence about painting the Shaker black, but leaning towards keeping it argent even though many "experts" will question its authenticity.

Do you know the original owner? Any day one pictures of it wearing an argent shaker ? It's a hard statement to prove without hard evidence. :alan2cents:

Hey Alan...Yeah, we've discussed this before.  I bought the car from the 2nd owner(now happens to be my brother in law) who's then girlfriend purchased it in early 74 with only 6,000 miles on it.  The car was in untouched condition at that point in time.  I asked my brother in law about the shaker bubble being argent and he says that's what was on the car in early 74 when purchased.  So no, I don't have any day one, first hand, first owner info to prove 100% the argent bubble was original, but given what I DO know, it's unlikely the original owner swapped a black bubble for an argent bubble in the first 3 years/6,000 miles of the car's life.  I've tried searching for the original owner on line through google, FB, voter records, etc. but no luck.  Would love to ask him a few questions.

Yea, I don't want to come off sounding like a dick :Stirring: , but a lot of things can happen to a car once it leaves the dealer's lot...
The original owner could have had a buddy with a shaker car that wanted to swap argent for black...who knows...

I took a brand new Ram in 2017, added the two scoop hood, factory wheel flares and swapped out the rims all before the truck was a month old....Try to explain that 50 years from now... :looney:

...but on the other hand...You can never say never when it comes to Ma Mopar and some of the crazy things that happened back then :drinkingbud:

No worries Alan....I get it and yes, who knows maybe the dealer had sold another car on the lot and THAT buyer wanted the black bubble from this car...anything is possible and we will never know for sure unless I can find the original owner.  It just seems more likely since after 50 years everything else (except the grill) is still intact i.e. radio, rims, exhaust manifolds, vinyl top, steering wheel, louvers.....you know the usual stuff owners change themselves...that the bubble wasn't changed either.

Could be either a case of an on-hand inventory shortage or a production line error.
In the end, build it the way you want.
