How to find the owner

I found a car i'm interested in purchasing. The car is for sale and on consignment. I would prefer to deal with the owner directly since the car is waaay over priced. I have the VIN and lic. plate number. Is it possible to get the owner info from the lic. plate though DMV? Car is in Michigan.

States cannot give out that information due to privacy laws.
If you posted pictures of the car, maybe someone would recognize it and tell you who owns it.
