highly recommend the brake controller,
you can install it BUT the sales code needs to be programmed into the TIPM ( computer ) or it wont work . brake controller kit # 82215040AB takes about 10-15 minutes to flash / reconfigure the TIPM

I`ll call the dealer and get a quote for the factory one, sounds like it`s worth the extra over an aftermarket one although I was happy with the Tekonsha Prodigy I had in my `04 2500.
