My Cuda block, heads, rear end and trans numbers ???

These are the heads he was running when the engine had the issue that caused it to be parked for 30 years. They are stock 1973  587 J heads 188in. 160 ex.

Have a good machine shop mag them and check them good.  Should be able to run them again if they are okay.  I like J heads and use them a lot, but there are better heads out there if you want big HP.

There are a lot fo heads I would use instead of those , big power gains without a lot of cost too , are the adjustable rockers savable ??

Thanks guys, I was going to have a shop clean them up and inspect them and if good just have them around for future use if needed. I felt by the time I had them port these install 2.02 and all that I could by a better set for the money. So that brings me to another question does painting aluminum heads take away anything from say heat realease or is there anything negative by painting. I just want my engine to look stock to the average person at shows and cruise-ins, the real Mopar and car folks will know it's not. It seems my 72 Rally Challenger had a blue engine so I guess this 73 Cuda would also.

Painting alum is fine , what heads are you thinking of using ?
I would not bore the block , just hone it & change the pistons to a better compression ratio although you should be able to run close to 11:1 comp with alum heads

I'm not sure on heads yet I'm open to suggestions though. My thoughts exactly 10:1 11:1 is good and hope honing will clean it up and stay at the 30 over mark.
