That's still a nice looking car and if you like it you should make them an offer. Was just looking at Hemmings yesterday and noticed their E-bodies are almost all priced at the the very high end of reasonable. Maybe 10 - 20% overpriced. Would assume the sellers would take offers, otherwise most of them wouldn't sell at those prices.  :alan2cents:

Maybe that's where the market is headed ? :dunno:

Great looking car. A few wrong things, the worst is the spoiler because it would leave holes so best would be to leave it there. Stripe is wrong but it peels off, hood scoop inserts should be black, 5 minutes to fix. Again a beautiful looking car, $15k too high I think but I would love to drive it.

Why peel the stripe, it looks awesome. Hood scoop inserts - see pic of my Challenger below. It doesn't have to be factory correct for me.

It make you wonder sometimes. I went through the Hemmings ads for 73 Challengers. There were 12 cars. I did not include rest-mods over 40K. The average asking price was $30,750! I paid half that for my 74 six years ago and could have driven it home.

My '72's hood scoop inserts were orange from the factory. I also have an original paint (but faded) Lemon Twist hood that still has orange inserts.

Sorry Alan, but they were, and still are. I'm the third owner of the car, and still in touch with the original owner.

A lot can happen between 3 owners and 46 years.....The factory NEVER painted them orange, doesn't mean somebody else didn't at one point, Heck even the dealer may have painted them. :dunno:

I thought all 72-4 Cuda hood inserts were orange???

HR738

Well... if the original owner states they were orange, and the second owner and I didn't paint them, that doesn't leave many others. I guess I should check with my neighbors....

I Googled the colour of Cuda hood scoop inserts and guess where it took me. To e-bodies.org! It seems we have discussed this before. It's part way down the thread.

No idea what is "right" or "wrong", but I wouldn't change a thing on the car.
Stripe and inserts set off the black, great look.

100% certain the grill in a 72-74 Cuda ALWAYS had the orange/red insert area, but NEVER the hood scoop inserts. It was very common practise back in the day, everybody was painting them...I owned a couple of cars with orange ones as well.
