Going to start biulding a dolly for my engine/transmission so I can assemble everything and install from underneath and need some pics for ideas on how to do the mounts etc. I`m going to use an old engine stand I picked up a while back and modify it.

I used a modified commercial dolly that I borrowed from a friend.  Whether you use a commercially made dolly or make you own, once you install a motor from below, you will never use an engine hoist again.

Thanks.  Lifts are pretty cheap nowadays and when you get into your upper 50,s, they pay for themselves in Advil savings.  To the OP, try to build your cradle high enough to be able to get under the car and bolt everything up once you drop the body down.  I ended up making 4x6 legs with cross bracing and relocated the casters.  Legs were 18 inches but you could get away with 12 inches.  Getting the dolly higher also helps with putting everything together.

I made a stand with a dual function. Engine stand to carry out my camshaft break-in and the development of my injection; Assembly carriage after removing the front panel.

I made this one to come apart when not in use so I can store it easy.  It's fully adjustable so it fits any size engine.

Low cost built better than the dolly's at HF and worked like a charm for what I needed it to do.  No lift so I wanted it close to the ground.

Wow. You guys have some nice ones.  I made mine out of some scrap wood I had layin around and bought some nice casters for it (6).
I also dont have a lift so wanted it close to the ground.   Worked like a charm.

@CudaA39 that is sort of what I intend to try; I have my K-member on a battery core pallet right now; and I like that tail shaft support extension idea  :bigthumb:

Thanks...one item I may change next time is to use a scissor jack under the tailshaft to adjust the angle for installation.  Here is a pic with the engine.  The blocks holding the k frame have all thread rods to keep everything aligned.

@CudaA39 threaded for adjusting the K frame or to bolt the blocks together?

The rods were sticking out about four inches and went through the k frame holes near the oil filter and the steering box areas.  I wanted to make sure it stayed centered and was balanced when getting everything in or out.  They were not used to secure, only align.  I then cut strips of carpet for the blocks so it wouldn't scratch the k frame.
