I just purchased the automatic console shifter #214 -70kit from PG classic.  When I test the ratchet feature it goes straight from1st to 3rd skipping 2nd.   Just realized the description doesn't reference a slapstick.

Anyone buy one of these before and the slapstick works?   Does it matter if I am free holding it versus installed?

I don't know if I just got a defective one or perhaps it's not meant to be a slapstick which would be odd.  It does stop at drive at least

TIA

I would try it with tension on it first  :alan2cents: There's the round v-shaped spring in the linkage that puts tension on the whole system...that MAY help the issue you're describing

Looks the same as the one sold by Mopar Plus that they call a Slap Stick

Thanks all.  Appreciate the feedback

After much fiddling over the weekend without actually installing, came to the conclusion something is wrong.
Called PG Classics today and a nice gentlemen :canada: confirmed it should operate like a slapstick.  something must be wrong and occasionally  they get one where the tabs don't go down far enough on the ratchet.   He said they would exchange and test the new one before sending.   No hassle.  Good customer service.   Chinese manufacturing.
