Hi guys I have been wondering approx how many of my 1970 Challenger rt convertibles were made. It isn't registered yet in Galen's registry so I figured you mopar experts can help me out. It is a numbers matching 440 with the 727 slap stick transmission. It is a factory ef8 paint car with a black top and saddle tan interior. Any ideas of how many were made in this color and engine combinations? I have been looking for a while and have yet to see one with the 440.
Thanks guys

Floyd

Awesome combo!  Can't speak to the rarity of the color combo, but U-code R/T coverts are pretty scarce.

Here's a beautiful B5 44O auto trans that just got listed:

1 of 129 U code autos made for the US...that doesn't count any sent to Canada or overseas.

Nobody can give you an exact number in that colour combo, but it's safe to say it's pretty rare likely a one of one :alan2cents:

According to this chart 6% of the Challenger R/T Convertibles were EF8. With a tan interior, no doubt quite a bit less were built. Nice car!.

I have a 70 Challenger R/T 440 convertible.  Special order paint "999" EA4 Silver Poly.  I've seen only two other EA4 hardtop cars.  I asked the original owner, who's now 74, "with all the colors available when you ordered the car why did you special order silver?"  He replied, "I wanted it to look classy tough not in-your-face pretty".  Can't beat a vert in the summer.

@schlett7nu1 that is a gorgeous color combo. Warm weather is almost here in Jersey. Finally put the top down last week

@70challengerrt I'm hoping to take it out this weekend.  Wisconsin weather may not cooperate.  Sure is a lot of sand and salt on the road.  I can't wait to get it out.  Enjoy yours.  They need to be driven.

Beautiful car and rare color combo. You should register it with Ola Nilsson in his 70-71 convertible registry. I have mine registered and right now there are only 3 70 Challengers with saddle tan interior. If memory serves me right One is a 318 car that is Black the other is a 383 car that is EF8 and my car which is the only R/T. Mine is 383-EV2 with HRT5 interior.

based on the numbers & "in a perfect world" there should be ~8 440HP automatic US spec. '70 Challenger R/T convertibles in "dark green metallic" (EF8)

with 6 available interiors: VINYL - green, black, tan, white & LEATHER - black, tan

more than 1/2 of the EF8 & FF4 convertibles are statistically green vinyl (H6F8)
- so it's not hard to conclude that JS27 / E86 / D32 / EF8 / H6T5 is probably one of a kind (not taking into consideration any other OPTIONS)

I had a green U code automatic convertible project for awhile. I believe it had green interior originally though.
