What type of screws are used on painted racing mirrors on E bodies and should they be painted to match ?

I think these trim screws from classic industries will work *A1423K, They are #8 screw thread with a #6 head.

It should be an 10-24 machine screw  with an oval head.

Regarding painted vs not, l just think the screw heads stick out too much.

"Regarding painted vs not, l just think the screw heads stick out too much."  Well, you could do it the Bruce County way and take a Sharpie and "make" it black, or you could take some regular black/coloured paint and a wee brush and 30 seconds later....voila!
