I searched but cannot find, what is the correct finish for the steering coupler?

The old one looks like bare metal, maybe some zinc plating?

Floyd

I believe bare steel is correct.

@Rbob I saved this from another member that was good enough to post it. I haven't researched it, but haven't proven any of it wrong either. I apologize for not remembering who posted it, but here it is...

And I have no freaking idea why the photos get turned sideways, but it's highly frustrating!  :bricks:   :verymad:  :pullinghair:

Kevin, I've found the once you turn it on your computer, just crop it a little bit and save. It usually stays in the right direction then...

#16 is actually incorrect . It's the LH "driver's side" torsion bar that get two paint stripes  :alan2cents:

No paint-bare. Or at least that is the way my 70 TA is and i don't believe it has been restored.

Somewhere in my basement I have an NOS one in a box.

IIRC it has a weird soapy like coating on it and it is a grayish color.  This is the forged piece with the splines to the steering box.

  As soon as I read this I remembered I just had a new customer drop off an NOS one last week....I just pulled it out of the box..

Now I know "replacement" parts aren't always the same as "assembly line" parts, but I've never found any signs of plating or paint on them, usually just rust... :dunno:
