So, what is the main difference's between an la built car and a hamtramck built car?
Body wise anyway.
I know the no trash policy and that they are in different locations.

Topcat

No Hemi's built at L.A. plant what I recall hearing before.
Door vin put on vertical at L.A. vs. Horizontal at Hamtrack.

Pretty much any car out of the L.A. plant didn't get build sheets hidden anywhere.

As Topcat pointed out, my door sticker was vertical.

Sheet metal is the same.

Font is narrower on some LA plant fender tags.
LA production was used for 1970 model e-bodies. No '71 and up LA e-bodies.
Probably installed a disproportionately more N95 systems vs non-N95 on cars coming off the line.
No J0B cars built in LA. As already pointed out.

I don't think there are any major differences in the cars, maybe the assembly procedure and maybe some of the parts vendors, but otherwise very similar

So, the trunk pan's are the same from one plant to another.
Is the firewall different?  Were the dimples for newer electronic ignition different from the plants?

Yes, that is the biggest difference I notice is the changeover dates and running to changes to the sheet metal.  Since it had to be shipped out to LA most of the changes happened at a different time.  For example, the 3 dimples on the firewall that was added so they knew where to mount the 1971 electronic ignition (it was adding in the 1970 model year metal) was changed over at a different time.  I don't recall when, but things like that.

round numbers for LA:
roughly half the e-bodies built there have N95 (CA / ECS emissions)
1 out of 100 have a broadcast sheet

'70 e-body sheet metal the same as Hamtramck, but delayed changeover dates (I doubt there are any TRANS AM inner rocker panels)

steel wheels and Goodyear tires were manufactured at plants in CA VS. MI/OH - small appearance differences and stamped codes

E-body production ended first week of May 1970

I thought i heard that the fender tag information may have been slightly different, in that some codes may not have shown up??  Or am i thinking of something else?
