Be careful what you hear on the internet.  There's no way on the planet you can get a true quote for a quality body/paint job, unless it's all original paint.  Most of these cars have had many guys that had their turn at it.  It's amazing how much ugly is under old school paint to hide what reality is.  If the body is absolutely "rust free" and needs no panel replacement, for a real quality body/paint you're looking at at least 15k - 20k or more without pulling the driveline and doing the engine compartment or trunk.  Add the interior restoration, that's at least 5k - 7k with it done correctly with 1k for a vinyl top.

Anyone that says anything about a "budget" restoration, RUN FOREST RUN :canada:.  All that does is give them the excuse for their lack of talent.  What ever you do, find a shop that specializes restoring MOPARS only, not that average "body shop" with a "budget" paint job, you'll get what you pay for even though they may charge you the same amount of a "true" professional.

No truer words can be said....

Here's where you don't want to go.  Here's what you get when your "expectations" are to high and you've spent $114,000 for a so called restoration.  What a tourist, it's amazing you still get business.  Customers need to know what you're really all about.

alan this callback is all well-deserved negative publicity to be clear.

alan you have no integrity and that is clear to many more folks now, like the 2 deposit-paying customers you lost because of how you handled business with me. remember that  :D

This thread shows your lack of skill and/or deliberate screwing a paying customer for all to see.

I have not gone away and I will continue to call you out on your BS as long as you keep trolling for customers...

Looking forward to continuing the conversation in person in the near future  ;)

Hey Erik, welcome back to the site, I hope you stick around and participate more... :grouphug:
Been a long time since we talked as well, I hope you're enjoying your car and logging up the miles.... :burnout:

Like I told FE5CUDA (sorry I don't know his name) in a PM this morning, maybe we call all hook up at Carlisle next year at my spot or the E Bodies tent. As long as everybody is double vaccinated, or even triple by then   I have no problem listening to what's on your mind....if not vaxxed, I have no problem if we all wear masks....

Oh, and like they say....even negative publicity is still publicity  :haha: :haha:

Cheers  :drinkingbud:

I hope so...We couldn't predict the outcome of Erik's paint job because the paint supply store supplied the wrong activator for the clear coat which didn't become evident until many weeks later when the "checking" started to appear...As everybody knows, I offered to take the car back and have the paint issues addressed. Erik chose another shop to have it fix, which was his decision which I respect. :alan2cents:

JS29 Are you not in the body shop business ? Have you never dealt with misfortunate paint issues in the past ? :dunno:

Everything else about Erik's car, including the electrical gremlins that popped up after, is right on par with the 50+ others cars that I've restored in my life time....

This back and fourth is really not adding any positive information to help MauSanchezC find a body shop.

In answering the question about comebacks, I have had a few, but I took prompt care of them. I had an incident with the tow truck, the owner wanted someone else to repair the damage. I went over and payed the bill, all was well. Every one that has been in the business for more than a day has had to deal with something. It's HOW you handle the situation that makes or brake's the business. I listened to the phone call. That is all I have to say.  :alan2cents:

Are you going to lock another post about your most prolific poster displaying his low level of talent again?  Public forums are about true information and reality.  Not being a member very long, it's quite obvious that guy uses this forum to self promote to unknowing potential customers and you squash any negative feedback about his level of performance.  I've owned an interior and detail shop and been in the business specializing in Mopars for over 40 years, all the issues on the purple convertible were staring that guy in the face when he was putting it together.  That's what you get using an amateur body shop to do paint/body work on the cheeps.  I read the complete thread about the restoration and what the customer paid and how that "so called" restorer charged him north of 6 figures, are you serious?  Is he trying to say all the huge amounts of electrical and paint issues developed sometime after it was shipped?  Are you kidding me?  Really?  I feel sorry for the owner of that car, good thing there's professionals that would step up and fix the multitude of electrical issues and do the best they could with all the paint issues not to mention all the bad body and metal work that wasn't done on the car.

This crap is getting old. You all have said your piece time after time. It's getting old now. There is one thing about bringing something to the attention of a potential customer, but this is getting ridiculous, especially from people that aren't the primary sources. Not suggesting the topic shouldn't come up from time to time, but my gawd, the details and back and forth. Let it go. And baiting the moderator for doing his job? Come on man. You and others have had ample room to say your thoughts. This thread has been hijacked and who knows if this guy is gonna post again. Let it go.
