I'm working on the under-hood of my Barracuda and I need to paint some areas. I'm having problems finding Burnt Orange paint. Who would sale that?

Shane Kelley

Check with auto parts store. There will be some that mix their own. NAPA, Federated, Bumper to Bumper just to name a few. Check with a local bodyshop and find out who they get their paint and supplies from if you can't find a store that mixes paint.

Thanks, I've done that. They only have formula's for Base  and Clear coats. My is single stage. They do not have the formula for that. They said I could bring the car in and they can scan the paint, but the engine compartment is very apart right now.

Your best bet is to take a painted part off the car up the the store and let them scan it. I would do that anyway. Nobody is just going to mix paint off a formula and it match. Unless your the luckiest man on the planet. Maybe the trunk lid?

:iagree: We took the battery tray to match it.  Turns out there are different shades of "B5" and mine was one of them.

Both are very close to me. I will go to them tomorrow and give feedback.

Thanks for the help.

I went to Southern Auto Color in Gainesville, GA. I walked in and asked for Burnt Orange K5 in enamel. They said "I'll mix it up for you". 15 minutes later I walked out with the paint I needed. Thanks for everyone's help.

Be sure and spray a test panel panel before painting the finished product. Make sure the color is close enough for you. You can have them tint it some if needed.  :alan2cents:

Should be able to mix it in a single stage

I've walked in to several PPG paint stores and asked for auto paint and they turn me away.

It's because they know you will be calling and complaining that the color doesn't match. Selling paint to the general public would be a nightmare. We mix our own paint here at the shop and I can tell you color match is our biggest headache. The worst is just bumper replacement on a brand new car with pearl white paint.  :o

We have PPG paint stores that sell house paint, they have some industrial finishes but they don't carry any automotive materials....  For that I got to the automotive paint suppliers...
