Hey guys,

I have an opportunity to purchase my original Barracuda from when I was 16 some 40 years ago.  The guy I sold it to called and asked if I wanted to purchase it back.  I always regretted selling that car.

To get that car I will need to sell my 1971 Challenger convertible that I just completed the restoration.  I just wanted to get some opinions on its value before I make any decisions.  It was a base 318 convertible but now has a fully rebuilt '69 340.  It never goes over 175 degrees and I live in South Florida.  I also converted it to a TKO600 5 speed.   It has been converted to a shaker car as you can see.  The rear is a Suregrip "489"case with 3:23 gears.  I restored the car the way I wanted so please don't tell me this or that isn't original.  It was a 318 car and I'm not claiming any originality.

All of the shaker components are new as is the hood and fenders. I also installed the US Car Tool inner fender braces. The lower quarters have been replaced as well as the floor.  The rear deck is new.  The gaps are perfect on this car.  It has custom billet hood hinges.  The paint is only a year old and was painted professionally in the modern plum crazy paint.  It's looks amazing. There is not a spec of rust on the car.  The K Member was powder coated and I put gussets in for strength.  It's also has sub frame connectors.

Some of the engine pics will be a little different because I've recently replace the stock power steering bracket with a Borgeson bracket and I've replaced the alternator brackets with a billet unit.  All to clean up the engine bay plus they make it very easy to adjust over the original brackets. I relocated the battery to the trunk for the same reason.

In its restoration everything has been replaced if it couldn't be replaced with new then it was refurbished.  I've attached a file which lists everything that is new on the car. I'm sure I missed a lot but this is a comprehensive list.  It's written in the order that everything was put on the car.

The factory color of the car was EL5 - Butterscotch. Car came equipped with Air Conditioning, Power Windows, Power Top, and Power Front Disc Brakes. The brakes are flawless.

The trim tag information is attached  also.

Also forgot to mention is has a Bouchillon Performance A/C unit with their custom brackets that allow it to fit under the shaker.

This is the scan that I mentioned about all of the new parts that went into the Challenger.  I know I missed a fair amount, but you can see that I didn't skimp anywhere.  Thanks again.

That is a sweet ride!! Do not let it leave your hands!!  It's worth around $80,000.00 for sure! :ohyeah:

Katfish

Don't do it, memories are better than reality, you'll regret selling this sweet ride for an old HS sweetheart.....

Blowout

Car looks awesome. Outstanding work. Would be hard for me to let as is.  What are the details on the Barracuda?

Love it Anlauto.   :) :)
I personally think with the level of resto you've described, it is worth over 70k all day long.

I agree it should be worth that, but find a buyer at that price :help:

I think Anlauto is right on. I've seen some crazy sales this last year though so who knows?

Mr Cuda

I'm not sure I could give up a done,  completely  sorted challenger convertible for a barracuda.
Unless that barracuda was actually a Cuda,  or a convertible,  and done.

So what barracuda did you have at 16 that you want back?

Daveh

It was a plane Jane 383, 4 speed car.  However, the guy I sold it to put it in a garage and didn't touch it but once a year or so to start.  So, it's exactly the way I sold it to him.
