1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 426 HEMI "Garage Find Time Capsule"

Question to the experts. Doesn't $150K seem low? I was under the impression these are mid six figure cars. Thank in advance for you input.

I don't recall the price from 5-years ago - but it was a nice original unrestored car (with issues, not quite show worthy)    & the yellow is AWESOME @RUNCHARGER   

so, the car made it 45 years without being modified - now it has an 8-3/4 rear axle, added power steering, added rear spoiler

& they painted parts of it & not very well  -  the car is stuck in the middle, too cost prohibitive to improve & not "sharp" enough to warrant more or even $150K   

about the price point; maybe more at the $120k range.  A few of us actually checked the car out yesterday as we were cruising our mopars around.  Here's the fender tag picture.

As always where would you stop with this car? For sure I'd have to work the rear valance and repaint it, spray the core support, then once you blend the fender tops to make the hood respray look better you might as well paint the entire car. If you repaint the entire car you have to redo the floorpan and refinish all components under the hood and underneath the car. Ha, ha, project creep just by looking at photos over the internet.

That's the things about these cars...can you spend $120K-$150K and be happy with the current condition ? I agree with Sheldon....car could benefit from a full ground up restoration....but who the heck would want to throw another $80K at it ?

McCandless' 70 Hemi Challenger is in that price range and I believe it is a really good car and matching #'s so I think this is about right.

Agreed as McCandles' car was super-nice and needed nothing. I think Mike finally let it go for something like $140K?? and as nice as his car was I think it was sold for less than it's true value. IMO this car is not as nice as Mike's was. Even though I think Mike undersold his, I don't think this car is worth $150K ... maybe $125-$135K??

Interesting thing with this car is the back story described in the ads. Every time that this car has come up for sale recently it is described as just being found "about a year and a half ago" It doesn't matter whether it's 2007, 2015, or 2020 ... it's always a "year and a half ago"?? Here is the ad from the now defunct CarPics dot com that was posted back in 2007 ... even a lot of the words are the same!! In the famous words of Yankees Hall of Famer Yogi Berra "it's deja-vu all over again"!!

I guess he's concerned about fender tag theft using those rivets. 

I thought the Burnt Orange Challenger sold closer to $125K??

You may be right Tom ... I don't know if Mike's car had any "skeletons in the closet", but to me it seemed way under valued for as nice as it appeared in it's advertisements.

I think it did sell around $125k but it is listed now in the $150k to $160k range. It is better than this car alright.

Rust is definitely forming under the vinyl roof; it was quite noticeable. I didn't get under and look underneath the car.  Normal dings and scratches throughout the body.  From whats there, we were thinking $120k-$125k range.
