Since it's a replica they removed the fender tag.

That's an awesome looking car!  Interesting that the vinyl top is a vinyl sticker instead of actual vinyl. 
I wonder if when Isaac was setting the salt flats record if the car had a vinyl top.  I would assume smooth since they were trying to slip the air resistance.

I always wanted to build a tribute Daytona. First things first.

Petty team did experiment with vinyl tops briefly in the '70 season. They were hoping it produced the same results as dimpling on a gold ball.  Unfortunately it just peeled off.

Color is way off.... Here are a few pics of the real one I took at the Aero Car reunion...
Seems Mr. Wellborn has some special permissions from the local authorities...

I have no idea what they were thinking with the black vinyl top, no Daytonas had vinyl top.

Here are a few more pictures from the Aero Warriors Reunion I took.  The only obvious thing the tribute got sorta right was the gas cap on the side.
