interesting, an engine fire is never good but to go "salvage title" seems extreme from the pics (value of $25 also contradicts). No pics of the engine compartment is odd given the reason for salvage. I am not familiar with COPART a bit sketchy.

Let's itemize what would have to be repaired:I will go with complete engine rebuild with all outer components, complete respray of whole car.New under dash wiring harness.Having a good shop doing the repairs with parts and labor I can easily see 30k or more in repairs. The paint job and prep at least 15k.Motor rebuild and the under hood components another 15K including labor.Am I missing anything.

Ah, but that is if you pay someone else to do the work while you sit back and drink Mai Tai's or something. Someone resourceful could do it a whole lot cheaper. Mine was a fraction of that price.

Montclaire

Doesn't seem that bad, unless I'm missing something?

That's what I'm thinking. I've seen way worse "barn finds" for sale! It just seems a shame for it to be stuck with a salvage title, which will impact the value forever.

You can rest easy about Copart. They're a huge player in the auto salvage/sales business and are the preferred vendor for many insurance companies--- including the one I worked for. Just my  :alan2cents:

I'm no expert but I'd say at 25k thats the top of the price range I'd say?  Door panels missing, entire front clip needed, inner fenders? Grill? engine?, Wiring?  who knows the condition of the rest of the car rust wise till you get it stripped? Looks like one could be upside down pretty quick on that with too many unknowns?

I don't know Brad. The column says "estimated retail value" and in my old world, that meant how much it was worth prior to the loss and it came into account as some companies have salvage contracts at set percentages. It IS an auction, so if I were to bid, I'd start way lower than that due to all the issues it has. You can always go up, but not often down in bidding. It's usually a live, on-line bid and you can check when they figure to put it on the block and participate if you wish. Good luck buddy, you'd be stylin' with twins!!  :bigthumb:

I can't see that as anything but a fatality! The car must have had collectors insurance for it to be there. I would want it crushed!  :console:
