I thought a member bought this car a few months ago???

Bob didn't buy this car, he bought the 71 340 shaker Cuda that someone posted to compare to this Cuda...
Ok. I guess I needed to read the whole thread.

Bid to 20.3 K
With the body and metal work the car needs, will the bid go higher?   :takemymoney:

I'd give him $2500.

Guess that's why I don't have a '71 'cuda...lol

It would be a waste of money for me however I can see a 71 Foamer picking it up. When you consider a 71 Cuda 340 would be worth at least $20k more than say a 70 A-66 both in restored condition, the price sort of makes sense. Sort of.

Current high bid of $24,999.99 and RESERVE NOT MET.....makes me think somebody's shill bidding up to $0.01 shy of their reserve  maybe ?

absolutely shill bid.

If your going to pay 24,99999 you would go ahead and put that penny on.  Why would you loose a bid on a car due to a penny.

Yup for sure: I see a $45k buy-in with the metal it needs. That makes a done one hard to pass up instead.

I made one similar bad purchase years back when everything was peaked.  I was wearing my "billboard goggles" and made a 20k purchase on a 10K car.

This one had  No docs, rough prior work completed and in the wrong color as well, and no drivetrain.
It was wearing original paint and had an original stripe so I knew it was a factory billboard car.
I am a sucker for yellow billboard cars..
The second I wired the money I knew I made a mistake.
I bolted some old parts on it and took my losses and bailed before I got any deeper.
A few owners later I saw the car on Ebay with all original docs......

Do you think the original docs were found or fabricated ?

They are fabricated.  Tag and broadcast sheet.  I tracked the car back and I talked to the guy that said he junked them.
I also let the new owner know they were not with the car two owners ago and he simply stated they came with the car when he bought it... That owner was also selling the car at that point.

Ha, ha: Another good one was an ex friend of mine rebodied a couple of cars and swore up and down he would reveal all if he sold them. Sure enough I casually mentioned to two of the owners that they were rebodied and it was a big surprise to them.

Someone got sucked in. Just met the reserve at $25,099

anlauto

Well that's excellent news. I hope it goes to someone with the means ($$$) to give it the proper restoration it deserves and another cool 1971 Cuda can be saved. :clapping:

With a $25K buy-in and about a $75K restoration you'll have a very nice 71 Cuda :drooling:
