There are a lot of really stupid people in this world, but I'd like to think there would be no one this stupid to actually buy this. 

I wouldn't doubt that someone would buy this at that price. If you're going for OE Gold, it's basically a must !  Or how about owing a 71 Hemicuda convertible that's worth millions of dollars, is paying $750 for a fan belt really out of the question.

Believe it or not, some people have more money then ALL of us put together...

Ever been to Concours de Elegance at Pebble Beach?
Last I heard, it was $175 to be a spectator.

That's the type of crowd that buys this stuff.

I remember seeing an article some years back about the hemi cuda that Dave Walden did an OE restoration on where he said for what he paid for an NOS H pipe you could have bought a new compact car. 
That being said, I've seen a lot of the original E body hemi convertibles and most had a lot of not original parts under the hood.  I guess if you have one of those holy grail type cars you don't have to worry about all the minor details.  It's a hemi convertible, you've already got the top dog, no need to make it "OE gold"!
