Power Window set up

I have no idea what you're talking about with the guides. Manual and Power use the same ones. Unless you're trying to use Challenger guides on a Barracuda or vice versa, there is no changes needed to be made. :alan2cents:

The installs that I have reference to are for Challengers, Barracuda "may" be different.  The part i am referring to is the ones below. I will get you the actual pictures of both when I head back north in a couple weeks.

Agreed, the guide is attached in a different spot, use the wrong one & the window is slanted.....  Since a barracuda window regulator bolts up in a different spot it probably uses the same guide as a power window Challenger....

I'm not going to say with 100% certainty,  :thinking:  but we all know that Barracuda manual and Challenger manual regulators mount in different areas on the door structure, therefore use different guide brackets....My assumption comes in when you mount the power window regulator. If you mount them in the same location as the manual regulator in reference to each model car, then the manual guide bracket will work without issue.

I believe that if you're having to modify the guide bracket, then you've mounted the power window motor in the wrong area per model. For example, if you have a Challenger and you mount the power window regulator in the Barracuda position, then you would need to use a Barracuda guide bracket or modify the Challenger one....

So the manual shows it, not the first time the manual is wrong on something obscure....
71GranCoupe & I both have worked on Challengers with power windows & both have found there is a difference....  Anyone with a power window Challenger that can take photos?

In the past twelve months I've restored 2 1970 Challenger, both factory power window cars and have a third power window 70 Challenger here now....What would you like to see pictures of ?

Should be pretty clear which bracket is in question....   My Challenger vert has the same power window set up it came from the factory with & it has the part specified for a barracuda....

I wouldn't have even noticed if I'd just bolted the parts on but the track parts in my car were decent but I had a super clean (looked fresh from plating shop) set of tracks & guides out of a Challenger I'd parted out & I tried to swap them... When I did I discovered the difference....

Could be... My car is fairly early... A13 SPD but was built late probably around Oct 29th-30th...

On the quarter regulators for verts, can anyone shed any light on the "notching" that is often shown or talked about?  Is this needed?  What is it providing clearance too?

The ebay ad that kicked this thread off, had a diagram that showed a vert vs hardtop.  Note that it has not only notched sections but a scalloped section as well.  First image attached.

Back around March 2007, Tony Dagostino had an ad on Moparts for some vert regulators.  He was kind enough to send me several pictures (images 2 thru 4) via email.  I sent him the picture with the scallop notch and also questioned him at that time about the "scallop" area and he said his did not have that "THE SET I HAVE ARE CUT OUT , BUT DOESNT HAVE THAT EXTRA CUT LIKE THE ONE IN THE PIC YOU SENT
THE CUTS ARE JUST A HAIR OVER 1/4" DEEP
AND ABOUT 3" LONG

The prior image I posted of the complete 71 cuda vert setup also does not have the scallop notch and look exactly like what Tony sent me (5th image)

I installed 2 sets in Challengers and they cycled just fine. Cuda/Barracuda should be the same. At the time I was not aware of a difference, this was back in the 80's. I did watch them closely and did not see any area of concern, but possibly engineering figured the tolerances were to close.  They really go in easy, so give them a try and observe the operation, do one side, then decide, no sense in trimming unless it is actually needed. :alan2cents:
