Are nice ones worth this much?

Is the VIN stamping correct?

The $6,500 is a little steep IMO.  Maybe @6bblgt  can make out the VIN?  If it came out of a T/A or AAR would the VIN be 271287?

271287: Isn't that a very low VIN for a T/A or AAR?
I recently bumped into an old ad of a T/A with VIN JH23J0B311287. And according to the ad this T/A has a period correct T/A engine, not a numbers matching engine.
What do you think?  :dunno:

0B271287 would've been a Plymouth e-body - the first 3-digits are unreadable so it is only a guess
it is before the first batch of production AARs by ~3,000 cars

some TA340 blocks were used during the 1971 model year, built up as "normal" 340 4bbl engines

the stamping on the front of the block would clarify this: FW340 (1970) VS. GW340 (1971) model years

Just a guess.. but the 7 before the last three digits looks nothing like the last digit seven, correct? looks like it may have been tampered with.

here's what I see  :takealook:  the 4th digit looks verticle more like a "1" VS a "7" with significant rust pitting & not round at all like an "8,9 or 0"

& the possibilities:
0B271287 - a non-AAR Barracuda
0B281287 - a Challenger scheduled 318 (possibly a T/A)
0B291287 - a Challenger scheduled 331 (possibly a T/A)
0B301287 - a Valiant
0B311287 - a T/A scheduled 417
0B321287 - a Valiant
