T/A $12k

I wonder if there will ever come a day ( like in another 20 years or something) were cars like this will be worth fixing from an economic point of view? I have my doubts.....?

Since they are not making more E-Bodies, I could see projects like this becoming harder and harder to find.... and people will always want to restore a car themselves so maybe there might be a day when a premium is paid for projects even though they can buy a done car for less.

I would love to own a real AAR but will never be able to afford a nice one or even a rusty numbers matching, fender tag project one so something on the level of this T/A would be something I could start with and build. Yes , it would never be numbers matching, per build sheet etc. but I could do 99% of the work and have a nice driver, real AAR for not a ton of money so for me it would be an option if an AAR and of course needs to be 4 speed.

I think it's the cost of the restoration that will keep building projects like these NOT profitable.....
The cost of a decent paint job has almost quadrupled  in the last 15 years :o
....and it's great to see all the new reproduction parts coming out, but their cost certainly doesn't compare to Ford and GM parts that have been available for the last 30 years..... :bigmoney:

Lets face it....Mopar's are cool...and it costs money to be cool 8)

In a complete ground-up restoration....labour is usually the cheapest part....It's the cost of the parts that will kill you...

How many hours total ? Can't really be more then 1000 for everything ?

My full restorations, I come in around 375-400 hours my time and another 500 or so for out sourced metal/body/paint typically

I don't know how many hours total are in my car (and I have some chores still left which will rack up some more hours soon).  I don't have detailed receipts for the first shop it was in, and I have PTSD from my unpleasant experience with the second shop here in IL, so don't want to go over all their receipts to add up the hours they billed me, but I bet their labor alone was close to $60K.
I did OK on parts actually.  The car was complete when I started. I had a few parts I'd bought starting in the late 80s, and started serious part chasing in the late 90s when things weren't too out of hand yet.  I bought, sold, and traded, and the parts part of the project was actually a lot of fun.
I'd hate to have to try to chase down original parts for a concours resto now though.   :Thud:
