How good were actually were stock Alternators for our cars? The reason I ask is because for my electrical I plan on doing the ammeter bypass, led dash lights, headlight relays, etc... the only thing I will be adding electrical wise to the car will be a Bluetooth amp, I will have my stock radio still in the dash but it will have no power going to it.

Should I be good using the stock alternator?

There were fine & reliable , most of the time they really didn't work very hard just keeping up with the draw of maybe 15 amps , the worst case was night running highbeams heater & wipers all at the same time .

Bypass the ampmeter and if you really wanna lessen the load do the Roadman style headlight conversion. I run a stock alt w no issues. If your interested in the headlight conv I can post a link to a "how to"

@BIGSHCLUNK Did you also do the ammeter bypass?

Please post the link with Roadman's headlight conversion.   :thankyou:

If you are referring to adding headlight relays, the thread below has a schematic in it.

Also, member crackedback can build it for you too.
