What is the best battery topper to get, and what battery choices fit well with the topper?
Thanks

Is there more than one manufacturer?
I bought mine from Year One.  I think it works with a Group 24 battery, but it's been a few years and don't recall exactly now.
The one issue I ran into was my repro battery hold down top piece was a bit too small for the topper.
I was having some work done on the car, and the guy doing the work modified the hold down to fit it.

Saw this link on the other site

On the YearOne website it says that the product ships directly from the manufacturer. What they don't tell you is that it will ship sometime in 2023...maybe.

It seems that the battery toppers are made with yellow, green, and red caps.  Is there one color that is more correct for our 70 Challenger RT?

It depends what battery your car was originally equipped with.  Most had the yellow cap battery.  The red cap was an optional higher duty electrical package.

Sorry to continue being a pain on this topic, but it seems there are toppers for a Group 24 and for a Group 27 battery.  Which is correct for a 70 Challenger RT/383?

The Battery Toppers I have seen only fit Group 24 batteries. I have not seen a topper for Group 27 batteries.
That being said, there are push-in and glue-in caps available as kits on eBay. They are made by Weskar. Weskar has a website as well so you can see what they have available for caps and decals. They also have a new side panel which you can bond to your plain Jane battery to get the full repro battery effect if used with a Battery Topper.

There are only three major manufacturers of batteries in the US today. They are East Penn, Clarios (formerly Johnson Controls), and Exide.
Many swear by the WalMart EverStart which can be sourced by WalMart from any of the three. Still a good choice for a plain battery that will accept a topper or the caps by themselves. The benefit of the topper is you get the molded MOPAR logo/lettering with part number and Chrysler logo/lettering.

If you have your broadcast sheet, look at Line 3 toward the far right side under BAT. The two numerals match the part number for the battery.
Line 3 of the Broadcast Sheet under BATT:
The two digits are the last two digits of the factory part number of the battery installed:
20 = 59 amp Yellow caps
64 = 70 amp Red caps
67 = 70 amp Red caps
69 = 70 amp Red caps

The most common 1970 Challenger R/T batteries:
1970 340 Yellow 24 59A
1970 383 Yellow 24 59A
1970 426 Hemi Red 27 70A
1970 440 Red 27 70A
1970 440-6 Red 27 70A

My battery uses a Battery Topper in Red on a Group 24 battery which is not factory-correct since the Red caps are for Group 27 batteries. Looks great and much better than a generic aftermarket battery. FYI: My broadcast BAT code is 20 which is a Yellow cap Group 24. I am running a 440 so I use the Red cap topper with a Weskar decal on the side. Very convincing.
