Any one know where to get the clip for the dimmer switch? Or what kind of clip it is? I am trying to clean it up since there is a bit of corrosion in it and it is hard to get into it with out fully taking it apart.

Thanks
Tom

starlock washer or pushnut washer

See if you can find at local hardware store. I've been lucky in removing them and reusing them.
If you find them online you will most likely need to buy in bulk.

Awesome thanks. I checked my local hardware store but they didn't have anything. But I have several others I can check out that I might have better luck.

I was hoping I would be able to reuse it. My luck is I usually damage or lose the part. LOL. I just wanted to make sure I could get a new one just in case.

Thanks
Tom

Follow up for anyone looking into this later. I was able to remove the retainer. It is like a starlock washer but a bit different. As can be seen on the photo, it has four tabs that grip the shaft. The shaft has a notch that the washer catches into so it doesn't come back off.

I used a small thin knife blade to get in to the space between the tabs. This is a very small gap and was hard to find something small enough. I was able to gently pry the one tab back. I thought it was be spring steel and would snap back but it just bent. So be careful and don't use too much force. I did the same for a second tab. Then it was able to slip off the spindle.

@dodj It looks like I ended up cracking it after all. It still fits and works, but isn't real secure. So I may need a new washer. I am not sure if I need a new dimmer though. I cleaned it up but it doesn't seem to be working. I only get voltage out if I turn the dimmer to the lowest setting. Any higher and the voltage goes to zero. It looks like everything is good on the dimmer.

Not sure about Mongolia. I've pretty much been in Sacramento. I took a trip to Washington a while back, but I wouldn't call it Mongolia. LOL.
