I went with the sniper kit that came with an external fuel pump. Pretty easy set up actually, the only trip up for me was where to get the 12v switched and cranking power from.

Thanks. I ordered the OE in-tank pump with the hydramat.

@fireguyfire

Which fuel pump setup did you go with?
I just ordered up my sniper tonight. Putting it on a 318 with LD4B intake.

Holley also makes an in tank fuel pump that replaces the OEM float assembly and does not require a return line.. it self regulates in the tank.

^^^ I don't know anyone has used this yet... but it sure looks promising.

Great.. be sure to post back and let us know how it works and if the Holley float is any more accurate than the other hit-or-miss fuel gauge stuff available.  :bigthumb:

Just reading all of the above and I am very curious also as I am in the middle of a Sniper Conversion.

I am almost finished my EFI Conversion:  Holley Sniper EFI, Sniper CD Box, Holley Sniper Coil, Holley Sniper Distributor, New 8.5 Super Wires to the plugs, and OEM Style in tank fuel pump (no return as it is self regulating according to Holley), PowerMaster 140Amp 2-wire alternator direct connected to the battery.  Used Earl's high pressure fuel line and an inline fuel filter (Holley also).

Planning to fire this weekend.  Conversion completed with a local guy that has now done 4 conversions without issues.    Will report my findings.

If all is good I will share the wiring scheme.

Question is what to do with all the extra ignition wiring, ballast resistor, etc .....  What needs to stay, what goes???

From my research the external fuel pump for EFI tends to run very hot and can be noisy.   Apparently, the in-take is cooled by sitting in fuel and is quieter.   Will post when I complete my conversion.

Almost all of the engine harness wiring is no longer necessary with the Sniper if you use their distributor / ignition. I think we used ONE wire out of the whole harness, I forget which one it was, I gotta go look. Will head out to the shop tomorrow.

And yes, in-tank pump is preferred to the external units. I have a brand new Aeromotive A1000 if anybody wants a good deal on one :)

It was the ignition wire that was used, connecting to the sniper.. I also went with Dakota Digital gauges and the wiring that links the sniper to the gauges so there isn't much of any factory engine management wiring in use.

Here is the latest on my EFI conversion:  Holley Sniper EFI, with HyperSpark, new Holley Sniper Distributor and coil.

a) Started initially, but screen went dead during CRANK.

b) My Ignition Resistor has a piece of 12ga wire soldered across it with the resistor (done when converted to Electronic Ignition)

c) Can't figure out what is causing the screen to go momentarily dead??   Removed pink and red wires from Ignition resistor and went
straight to positive on the battery.   Problem goes away, but now turns over, but won't start.  In tank pump working and have 55 lbs pressure at the throttle body. No leaks .....

d) Would any of the original wiring be coming into play and causing issues??

Any suggestions appreciated.

Getting spark at the plug when she cranks?

Yes ...... have spark.

Strange thing is that when we tried firing it today, it started and idled for about 5 minutes.   Started to get hot, then quit.

Following this, I was unable to get it started again.    Checked for spark again and have spark.    Starting to wonder if one of the
boxes are faulty??    Have a spare CD box and Sniper coil.    Going to swap one of these out at a time to see if anything changes.

Seems all goes south when it gets up to running temperature.

Tried swapping out the Sniper Coil and the CD Box ..... no difference.

Going to swap out the Champion plugs ..... pretty fouled.  Any recommendations??

Do you have an insulating type gasket between the throttle body and the intake manifold? My Fitech will have difficulty restart after a drive. The heat is no working well with the electronics. The problem went away after I install an insulating type gasket.
