As time permits I am continuing with the wiring on my Challenger. For anyone that is following my build post you will know I am using a combination of the original harness from the dash and gauges and using parts of a Painless kit for the engine and body harness.

The factoring wiring diagram shows wiring for "Fender turn signals" and the painless kit supplies 2 wires labeled as such as well.

Would these be the little reverse facing indicators that sit on top of the fender on some cars?

Thanks

Thanks Cuda Cody,

I don't think I have ever seen them on a Challenger, never noticed them anyway.

I think I read somewhere that they were not available on 70-71 Challengers with a rallye hood....That could be wrong though...

Because the subject line says "Fender turn signals" I'm adding this picture here should anyone do a search regarding information on these. This is what I came up with from my knowledge, experience and Google. I welcome any contradictions.

The 72 Barracuda I purchased new from the factory does not have the fender turn signals you list. The car I have came with the 70 style which does not have the screw going through the top like the later 73/74 models. I ordered the light package, and they were part of that, and they are chrome.

Thanks for that info. Oddities did happen from the factory. L31 is on the original fender tag of the car in the link.

The larger chrome fender turn signals with the screw in the top were first introduced in 73.  The factory standardized them across all lines.  They were used into the early 80s I think.  This link shows the front page of the 73 Challenger brochure.  This car still shows the smaller chrome 72 turn signal indicators.  This was most likely a 72 with the front bumper guards air brushed on.  This car also has the 70-72 style vinyl top which leads me to believe it's a 72.

Here is the 1970 data book page that says the fender mounted turn signals were not available in an R/T or on the 340 package.(you couldn't see the PS turn signal indicator over the raised hood)

Fender mounted turn signals aren't even listed in the 71 data book.
