The person I sold a trunk panel to has the heater box assy from his 72 Barracuda for sale.  It looks like it is in much better shape then the one in my car, which needs the heater core changed among other things I'm sure.  His car had AC and mine doesn't and won't. If I can swing a deal, can I use his box in my car without any negative affect?  I've never looked at the two versions side by side or even closely at the one in the car

An AC box and a non-AC box are TOTALLY different, His AC box won't even bolt up in your car :alan2cents:

No, Unless you change everything. Defrost duct, Dash and all A/C ducts that go with it.

:iagree:  Easier to find stick with a non AC and just fix what you have.

That solves that, and is why I asked.  Thanks guys.  I'll be pulling the dash apart this winter so I'll see what's what.  Hopefully its just the heater core and a rebuild kit.  I'll do Vintage air when the time comes.  Gathering all the correct OEM AC parts is not something I care to deal with, and the kids laugh when I pull on the vent knobs and announce the AC is on.

Just FYI, you don't need to take your dash apart to change/remove the heater core box. It is much easier if you remove the passenger seat first though.

If your long term goal is to add vintage air, then why replace the heater core, why not just run without it ? Do you really need heat in the car when you drive ?
