Is this a capacitor

When I replaced my coil this was connected to it. The black wire coming out the other end came off. I believe this is used to control ignition static for the radio.
Regardless of what it does who sells them. Thanks

Yes, that's exactly what it is... The correct looking repo that was made is no longer available & they wanted $58 for it when you could get it....

Just FYI, if that capacitor was original to the car,  it likely stopped working 30 years ago. Capacitors have a lifespan.
Unless you are keeping up the originality of the car,  I wouldn't bother with it

Yes, that is the original capacitor on my car. Almost everything I have ever replaced I have kept. I'm not sure if I will replace it. Either way, I still have it.

Well the part may have gotten changed by someone else without his knowledge but it's been changed & the replacement came off a Toyota...

Yep, I walked into the dealership on September 29th 1972 and ordered my Cuda. Four weeks later I was driving it. So...how did a Toyota capacitor end up on my ignition coil?  I never replaced it. What were they doing in Hamtramck?

That resembles a NAPA (Echlin) #EP30 condenser.

And you've done 100% of the service work yourself?  Never been to a shop, a friend never helped?  Sorry that part isn't a Mopar design... I've been poking around the internet, Ford & GM both used similar capacitors to what Toyota used... Chrysler didn't.. The Ford ones have a bullet type connector... GM uses a eyelet style connector...

Every photo I find of a Mopar capacitor shows the one I posted above.. Bill Rolik also lists the one I posted...

Yes, I've done all the service myself except for wheel alignments, ball joints, stuff like that. No one has worked on my car except me. The capacitor has been there since day one. It had a black wire on the other end that came off when I changed my coil last fall. I bagged up the fallen wire and factory coil and labeled the bag. It's with all my other factory parts that have been replaced.
