Looking through engineering documents and found a reference to lubricant applied behind the headlight buckets.  That's a new one for me.  The drawing calls for "Lubricant 2206020" to be applied to the three ridges on the bucket where they make contact with the headlight seat area on the front fender.

Any ideas on the purpose?  There are various types of lubricants identified in these docs.  The only other refs to this type of lube I could find have it applied to the base of the turn signal switch and on a portion of the steering column.

The purpose is to allow the headlight buckets to move easily when the aiming screws are adjusted. Good old Lubriplate works just fine.

Silicone grease is another good option

I have had very good results with no grease at all....
