Turn the key started to crank then nothing. Had been starting fine until this.

Chryco Psycho

so it is  cranking & not  firing or just stopped cranking, cranking problem is probably a bad relay on the inner fender

Cudamike

It stopped cranking.

A.Gramz

Are you hearing any clicking or just dead silence?

Cudamike

Silence it's not battery

GoodysGotaCuda

Id check the ground cable at the battery and block.

Screwdriver to the starter solenoid bump things over?

Started to take off relay. Had 2 bottom wires from relay off. I touched 2 wires left on relay and it cranked.

Spikedog08

Sounds to me like it is time to replace the relay . . .  :D
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

Cudamike

I replaced the relay still no crank.

Can you provide a picture in focus? You need a wire on each of the bare spade connectors for it to crank. One switched 12v, other is grounded by the neutral safety switch or clutch switch.

The pic is when I took the wires off the spades.  Here is a new pic of it back together. The 2 wires on the bottom of the relay 1 goes to ground the other go into fire wall.

Cudamike

It actually started to crank while I was removing the relay. The 2 bottom wires were off and I was taking off nut holding two top wires.

You should be able to get it to start by shorting (with a screwdriver) the starter solenoid like GoodysGotaCuda said.  That will tell you is it's bad or if it's before that solenoid.  Seems like it a loose wire or a simple electrical thing.

Cuda Cody

Not the same solenoid but might give you an idea of how it works to short it out and start the car.
