On my 73 challenger this switch is on the dash to the left of the steering wheel.
By the looks of the rough way the hole was cut it is definitely not original to the car, but I'm curious what it may have been for. Any guesses?
Also, any suggestions on the best way to hide the hole?

NOS!!! Ejector Seat?   Na, probably a horn button..

Push it and see what happens  :dunno:

You can get a plastic repair kit and fill the hole, smoothen it out and repaint the bezel :alan2cents:

The wires have been cut 6" past the switch and there is no obvious place they went; pretty heavy gauge wires.

Could be aux horn or if the ign switch was causing problems it might be a start switch

There's also the option of just buying a re-pop panel   :alan2cents:

Or Check with Dean , he probably has a good used one . :bigthumb:

Neutral safety switch? Try starting the car in gear with the pedal out.

Solarguy

an auxiliary electric fuel pump used just to prime the carb. ???

Chryco Psycho

That would be the worst possible place to reach for an NOS switch  :bricks:

fireguyfire

It's on the left side of the steering wheel so it is easy to reach. definitely not nitrous or a trunk release as there is no sign of either having been on the car
