Some gmail flasher unit

Just going through my newly purchased 73 Rallye Challenger and sorting out a couple of minor things.
When I looked at the car I noticed the signal lights worked, but the flasher unit didn't. If you turned the signal lever in either direction on and off you get signal lights.
I assumed a quick replacement of the flasher unit would solve the issue, but after replacing it today with a new one from Napa I still have the same issue; signal lights work but no flash on and off unless you do them manually.
A dumb question, but are there separate flasher units for the signal and emergency lights? I'm wondering if perhaps I changed the wrong flasher unit.
If not, any suggestions on where I should trouble shoot next being that changing the flasher unit didn't fix my problem?

yes , 2 flashers , 1 on the column , 4 way & 1 on the ashtray  for TS
