Is there anything modern that's a direct bolt up?
I'm thinking my starter might have some kind of a short issue of some sort, it's popping fuses off of the relay.
I figured there might be some sort of modern mopar comprable starter that would fit the 340.

Thanks.

A later model magnum starter is always a good option. ~2003 Dodge Dakota 5.2/5.9L

 :iagree:
anything from a Magnum engine over a number of years , easy to find in a wreckers just change the 2 contacts for $5 or so , or get a rebuilt from a parts store , not expensive

RUNCHARGER

Yup: I usually find the newest looking one on a pickup magnum engine at the wreckers.

So these magnum starters are a direct swap?
Smaller in size?

After looking at pictures on Rock auto at a nippensenso style starter for a 5.9 Dakota.

Your peers to be a connector on it that looks like it's for a harness

Maybe that's a 5.9 thing. I ran a 5.2 mag starter on the 318, currently in the Warlock and on the Hemi. Smaller and better gear reduction.

most I have seen use a dual stud arrangement

RUNCHARGER

Yes: Dual studs with a harness thingy bolted on. You unbolt the harness thing, split your battery cable end and mount the leads. 2 minute deal.
