Does anyone run a short antenna?  I don't like the long factory ones.  I'm looking at a few different styles online but they all are threaded for metric fasteners.  It looks like the original thread was 1/4-20 and the new ones I'm seeing are 5mm.  A google search said you can't drill and tap a 5mm threaded hole for 1/4-20 threads.  The adapters that come with the antenna are all variations of metric thread.  I haven't seen any adapters that convert 5mm to 1/4-20.

They might.  Thanks for that link.  I'll have to look at the antenna base on the car and see how far down the threads start from the top.  I think the threads start down lower in the hole and the 1/4-20 section of those adapters is really short.  I might be able to machine off the middle section so it would screw in farther.

I have a stock antennae mast that wants a new home if you end up needing one.

I have one... but I'm sorry... couldn't tell you where I got it.  It was one of those things that I just had laying around in a box of parts that I didn't even know I had.  Probably came off of a parts car maybe?  I dunno.  Did Challengers come with these shorties, and if so, why?  It'll barely get you one or two radio stations but I don't really listen to the radio much in my Challenger.  I like the fact that the car cover goes over it.

What cars did the shortie antennas come on?  Now I'm even more curious where I got this thing  lol
