Hi All,

When I turn the heater fan on the fuse blows. How can I fix this?

It has a dead short, It could be the fan motor its self. :alan2cents:

Unplug the fan and turn on the heater. If it still blows the fuse the wire is grounding out somewhere. If it doesn't blow the fuse plug in the motor and then if it blows that's the problem.

@70rag383  If you don't want to keep changing fuses, Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. place a test light in between the cable and post. there should be no glow from the test light. then turn the fan switch on, the light should glow. Than unplug your blower motor. If the light go's out, It's the motor. If it dose not go out start checking the wiring.  :alan2cents:

:iagree:

Well that or you could put a bigger fuse in it....  In case I need to point it out that is sarcasm... Don't put a bigger fuse in...

My brother one time wanted to wrap aluminum foil around a fuse to find a short!!!!  :headbang:

Thx JS29. Where is the plug for the blower motor?

Should be on top of the heater box, behind the glove compartment. I will look at mine tomorrow.  :alan2cents:

A lot of people don't know/appreciate the value of proper fusing.
Back in '85 a friend (who I've lost touch with) had a '71 'cuda, 340, auto. He had a habit of wrapping blown fuses with the foil out of his cigarette packages. Believe it or not he lost that car to a dash fire.
