Hello friends I'm replacing some seals on my 904 transmission and I'm stumped on the internal speedo seal. I bought a seal kit that comes with me seal outer o-ring and snap ring. I can't figure out if the snap ring is supposed to snap in a groove or if it is just slides down on top of seal and rest there. My car is a 1970 challenger and is original transmission. Maybe I have wrong seal or the snap ring just holds tension but doesn't snap in a groove. Any advice would be great. Thank you.

the seal slides into the housing first then the snap ring slides in behind it to hold it , there is no groove & really no pressure in & out . Make sure the lip of the seal is placed inward towards the oil
