Angle Oil Filter Adapter Bolt

What is the torque spec for tightening the bolt on the angled oil filter adapter on a small block? 
Contrary to the opinions of some, I am not dumber than I look.

The torque spec on a mopar 340 90 degree angled oil filter adapter I think is 50 lbs, but when I look in the manual it doesn't list it.   :huh:

tight + 1/2 turn [Kidding] , it seems to be impossible to crush the cork gasket & they always seem to leak

Exactly!  I have gone through two sets of gaskets and it still leaks!  I'm ready to pull the stupis thing off and just go with a shorty filter on the block.

Is there a rubber equivalent?  Not sure what they look like.  Would the seal off of a large diesel oil filter work?

Wanted to take mine off, but there's no provisions to screw the filter directly to the block? What am I missing?

There's a metal plate and special nut with threads on both sides.  Check out the pic.

They are pretty common as all small block LA engines had them if they didn't have the angle adapter.  I had piles of them but gave them all away.  I'm looking to get another now.  LOL

Are you guys using the correct gaskets in the correct locations? In all my years I have never had a issue with them leaking. I found they actually sealed better than the plate.  Cork ring goes between block and adapter. Metal/fiber gasket goes under bolt head and big gasket is obvious. I usually just tighten them snug where they can't rotate. I use just a thin film of sealant on both sides of large outer gasket. Could there be small groove in the block or adapter face that's not allowing it to seal?

Yes, I put the right gaskets in the right locations.

Mine don't leak either.  Now I better find some wood to knock on as I'm doing two 340's right now and one will leak on me now that I said that.

This is the first one I have ever had that leaked.  I know a buddy of mine put the last set of gaskets on it and really cranked down the bolt.  So I'm gonna pull it and do it again myself.

My big gasket looked to be rubber, maybe the cork works a little better if it's not over torqued? :looney:

is there a speifi brand of gasket that is being used by the guys who do not have leaks  I have put 250 ft lbs on that bolt & still had them leak
