Any reason this wont work. Trans dipstick

Jason, I just got off the phone (4:00ish) with him and he didn't have a chance to look today but will tomorrow. I'm on the road again tomorrow and don't know when I'll be back to see if he emailed me, or not. Hope you can hang in there another day or two for his answer.

I can wait a few more days...I am still trying to sort out a driveshaft...so I am not going anywhere until that is done!

The dipstick above fits perfectly.

Just for reference, her are the differences between a 727 tube and 904 tube. The bends are different and the tab to mount it to the bellhousing are in different spots.   

The dipsticks look to be the same.

That's some good reference you posted, it'll come in handy when questions come up.

How are you addressing the deeper A500 pan to get accurate fluid level readings?

The dip stick reads from the top on the pan...so I don't think i need to do anything other the add a few more quarts of fluid.

Did you check to make sure you have the filter extension in place?

@Burdar I have not.   I looked through my pictures and there was no extension on the filter.  Are you saying with the new pan it should have an extension or would you expect it with stick pan?

Compair the pan you have on the 500 to your original 904 pan.  The 500 pan should be deeper.  You're filter needs to be towards the bottom of the pan.  The factory used an aluminum spacer to drop the filter.

Have a look at this one.  I'm not saying this is the one you need...this is just for reference.

@Burdar I am going from a 727 to nd A500.  The A500 did not have a spacer on the filter.  the pan is slightly deeper but is a stock replacement.

here is pic of the filer that was included on the trans. It was replaced with the same style.

727s and 904s use the same filter.  I thought the overdrive trans used the spacer since the pan is deeper.  With no extension that extra capacity is wasted.  It just sits there at the bottom of the pan.  As long as the fluid level is kept right it really doesn't matter I guess.  It would be nice if you were pulling fluid closer to the bottom of the pan though.  I'd double check with a trans shop to see if it is supposed to have an extension.
