So after some debate, I've decided to stroke my 340 to a 416 for my build. I will be assembling the motor myself. Been a few years since I've rebuild one but I'm sure I can get it done again.

My intention is not to build a ground shaking, earth rotating torque monster but a great street engine with a bit of extra pep. It will most likely never see any strip time.

These are the parts that I already have in my possession and plan on using.
Edelbrock Performer RPM Cylinder Heads (60779)
Edelbrock Performer RPM Cam and Lifter Kit (7177) flat tappet
Edelbrock Performer RPM Air-Gap Intake Manifold (7576)
COMP Cams Pro Magnum Shaft Mount Roller Rocker Arms
Summit Racing double Roller Billet Steel Timing Set
Doug's 1 5/8" long tube headers
Holly Sniper 2 with Hyperspark

I've dropped the block off at the local machine shop and told them to hot tank then magnaflux block to make sure it's suitable for my intended build. It's a stock bore right now and I'll have them bore it 0.030" over. I have not purchased a rotating assembly yet. My plan will most likely be a cast steel crank with forged pistons/rods and compression somewhere around 10:1.

So I don't miss anything, what all should I be getting the machine shop to check and do to my block?
The heads are brand new. Is there anything anyone can recommend be done with them or are they good as is?

Thanks

I strongly suggest having the valve seats checked for roundness and sealing.
I have never seen a set of Eddy heads that didn't require a touch up on the valve seats yet.  :alan2cents:

Not my 1st choice for a cam I would have picked a Lunati but you have it already...
Almost seems redundant building a stroker with that cam.... :alan2cents:

The cam isn't written in stone. If there is something that would work better in my application, I'm open to suggestions. I just don't want a motor that's better suited for the strip than the street.
