I hope it's OK if I ask a question on your five your old thread? If not, I'll delete my post. We're you were able to determine one way or the other if ribbed or smooth was correct? I recently started researching this topic and came across your thread while trying to educate myself. Someone on Moparts had a similar question back in 2008. Certainly some good info on the Moparts thread.

I have a non A/C car with smooth heater hoses but I'm not 100% their correct or original to the car.  Would the ribs on the hoses be easy to spot?  After a little cleaning I uncovered what appear to be part numbers:
- 860457 901428  (possibly dated 223rd day of 1969, roughly 18 days before the build date (best guess) )
- 2936 402 42095 (supposedly 42095 is the vender id)?

Thank you
M.
