THE ZUKE

Hi guys,  ;)

Starting to ride with my Cuda (Thanks to the weather).  :perfect10:
This morning I have looked for a leak (engine oil) between the engine and the gearbox.  :verymad:
I went on Forum resources  to look for plans but I can't open 1973. I don't know why ?  :clueless:
Someone would have plans? I will be able to order (the seal or seals) that are leaking.
Original 318 CI / Cuda 1970 (swap) with a 440/1973 and a 727 torquelite.
Thank you for your answers  :bigthumb:

Start up top with rear of mainfold, valve covers and work your way down the back of the engine including the rear main.

There are a couple of leak, the rear main seal and the 727 cover torquelite seal (Both).

It's dripping both red and black fluid?

Yes, rear main seal and gearbox seal cover. :verymad:
I have ordered both of them but not in the same time.
I wait for them because the rear main seal is blocked by the french costums for one week.
A story about papers and invoice, they want others papers. Not really easy but I kow one day it will be come at home. Lol  :)

On the transmission leak make absolutely sure you know where it is coming from. A lot of us have chased leaks and have found the most common leak is from the selector shaft seal. This is where your shift and kickdown linkage pivots mount into the side of the transmission on the driver's side. That seal will leak and the fluid will run to the lowest point and make it look like the torque convertor seal is leaking when it isn't. It is not much work changing the selector seal but you have to pull the transmission back and down to pull the torque convertor to change that seal.

Ok thanks for the explanations.
With my mechanic, we checked and it is almost certain that the red oil flows on one side of the seal.
There is no red oil flowing from another place.
