what brand/source do you recommend to replace my old one.......going on a stock motor......

By 72 all the 340's were electronic ignition, right?  I'm sure your local parts store has them in stock as it is a pretty common item, but you can check with @MoparDave  and see what Mopar sells.

Mopar has dropped all of the ignition kits and distributors. What is currently available in stock appearance is the proform and prestolite. Both are readily available.
